We lost the first battle, but not the war.

We received 23% of the vote; 11,349 to 38,352.

23% of the people in our district believed in the green values we stressed in our campaign. Grass roots democracy (Treasure Island voter referendum on high rises), Economic Justice (living wage), Social Justice (support of DCF with money from the intangible tax), and Ecological Wisdom (transportation and growth management with teeth). Our constituents also voted for clean money campaigns.

23% is the most votes ever for a minor party candidate in Pinellas County, and maybe the whole state.

We have built at team that was able to staff 36 precincts on Election Day, that's better than any other candidate who was running in District 54. We will use this team as a starting point for the next campaign, and the next campaign, and the next campaign, until we have Greens in County Government, Greens in State Govenment, and Greens in Congress.
